DAB Panel Study

Design

The sample of the DAB panel study refers to students from 8th grades of the 2011/12 school year. Classroom surveys were conducted as part of the first three surveys (DAB-I), using online questionnaires. Surveys took place in the middle of 8th grade (Wave 1), at the beginning (Wave 2), and at the end of 9th grade (Wave 3). In addition, the parents of the adolescents were also interviewed in the first wave of the survey.

Since DAB-II, a sequential mixed-method design has been used to survey the adolescents. In the first field phase, the adolescents were first invited to participate in an online survey. In the second field phase, respondents who had not yet participated were contacted by telephone interviews and asked to complete a computer assisted telephone interview (CATI). In waves 6 and 7, written questionnaires (PAPI) were also sent out after the CATI contact phase was completed.

Detailed information on the survey design can be found in our documentation.
