Sampling
The sampling included public schools with 8th grades of the 2011/12 school year. The sample corresponds to a 10% random sample of 8th graders by community type (9-step), stratified by school type and migration population of schools.
In DAB-I, between 3’800 and 3’300 students were surveyed in the middle of 8th grade and at the beginning and end of 9th grade in classroom surveys about their educational intentions using online questionnaires. In addition, in the first wave of the survey, the parents of the adolescents were also surveyed using a standardized questionnaire. Since then, the adolescents have been interviewed six times using mixed mode design (online questionnaire; CATI, PAPI) as part of individual surveys about their further career and educational path. Between 2’250 and 1’800 interviews were realized.
